UK, US and Schengen Visa Applications

You need a valid passport, visa application form, 2 biometric photos, bank statements, employment letter, accommodation and flight reservations for a UK visa. A cover letter stating your travel purpose may be required for tourist visas.

For a UK business visa you need an invitation letter from your employer or business partner, company registration documents, tax certificate, correspondence with the UK company and documents explaining your travel purpose. A meeting, fair or business meeting schedule is also useful. These are required in addition to standard tourist visa documents.

The B1 visa is for business travel, the B2 for tourism and visits. Most applicants receive B1/B2 combined. You complete the DS-160 form, pay the fee and attend a consular interview. The interview covers your travel purpose, employment and financial situation. Showing strong social and economic ties is important.

For a Germany Schengen visa you apply via VFS Global or the German consulate. If Germany is your main entry or longest stay country, you must apply there. In addition to standard Schengen documents you need accommodation and transport reservations in Germany. After submitting documents, processing usually takes 2–3 weeks.

For a France Schengen visa you need a passport, application form, 2 photos, travel insurance, flight and hotel reservations, bank statements, employment letter and travel itinerary. If France is your main destination or first port of entry, you apply at the French consulate. Appointments are made via TLS Contact.

For an Italy Schengen visa you apply through the Italian consulate or an authorised visa centre (e.g. VFS). If Italy is your main destination or first entry point, you apply there. After documents are ready you book an appointment, give fingerprints and have your photo taken. Processing usually completes within 15 days.

Processing times vary by visa type. Schengen visas typically take 15 working days, UK visas around 3 weeks for standard applications, and US visas 1–2 weeks after the interview.
